Steps

  1. Get educated. Enroll yourself in some first aid classes. In the Medic First Aid class, you will learn basic things such as how to respond when you encounter a traumatic scene, control bleeds, etc.
  2. Learn CPR. Let's hope you never have to be put in the situation where someone is in need of CPR. In case you are, it would be helpful to be informed on how to perform this technique. You may end up saving a person's life.
  3. Ride along with ambulance crews. Going on ride-alongs is a great way to make sure that this is something that you want to do.
  4. Apply for the job. Get an application from a department that you want to work for. Complete the application and turn it in.

Tips

  • The more educated that you get, the better. An ambulance service is more likely to hire you if you are educated about the medical field. Even if you will not be using these skills all the time, it's good to know them.
  • Remember that these are just general guidelines. Each department will have different requirements.
